PUNISHMENT FOR THEFTS. A POSTMAN SENTENCED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Aug. 31. “The safety of the mails in Post Offices is of great public importance, and Courts never look lightly on offences-by officials in Post Offices concerning tampering with mails,” said Mr Page, S.M., when sentencing a young postman named Henry Edward Roberts to be detained in a Borstal Institute for 12 months on five charges of stealing letters containing money, postal notes and stamps, involving £5/8/6.
