AN INGENIOUS PROPOSAL

A statement recently, appeared in the press that a British firm had suggested to a Dunedin business man an ingenious method by. which the Customs authorities could be defrauded by under-stating the value of goods imported on the cash or delivery basisInvestigating the matter, Mr Lambie, British Deputy Trade Commissioner, has ascertained the document in question was not signed, and was a printed circular from an Indian firm, and that the occurrence does not therefore reflect adversely upon the high standard of commercial morality maintained by British manufacturers and exporters.
