PRESENTING THE CUP.

GIFT OF LADY DONOR. There was an animated scene on Saturday when the presentation of the Thames Gold Cup came to be made to the owner of the winning horse, Gold Jacket, by the donpr, Mrs Bert Collins, formerly of Thames, but now of Mangere. . In addressing the gathering, Mr T. W. Rhodes, M.P. for Thames, congratulated the winner on his achievement, and the Club upon the excellence of its sporting meeting. He tendered an apology for Sir Maui Pomare, who had been unable to put in an appearance.to present the cup. On behalf -of th e Club, he extended its thanks to Mrs Bert Collins for the munificence of her gift, and requested her to present the cup to the owner of the winner. This she did with a few well-chosen words. THE GOLD CUP.

Mr E ; J. Parkes, owner of Gold Jacket, in reply, acknowledged his gratitude at being the recipient of so handsome an ornament. He reminded those present that when he won the Cup the previous year he had promised to return and repeat the feat, and was glad to have been able to keep his word. Cheers for Mrs Collins and Mr Parkes concluded the ceremony.
