ARMED MAN AT LARGE.
POLICE HUNT ON AN ISLAND.
The combined police force of Jersey, in the Channel Islands, was recently hunting for a man who broke into three houses,' terrorised Mrs John Sanderson, residing at a private hotel in St. Saviour’s Road with a revolver, and shot at a motor driver. Mrs Sanderson told the police that when the men entered the hotel he flashed a torch in her face, and, demanding money, exclaimed, “Don’t make a noise; I have a shooter." After ransacking every drawer, he insisted on her getting out of bed and helping him to search the bedding. He then left by the window. Another woman, Mrs Luce, told a story of a man entering her bed. When she shouted, “Where is my revolver? I’ll shoot!” the intruder was so surprised that he jumped down a flight of stairs and decamped. The bullet that was fired at a lorry smashed a window at the rear of _the cab ..and an examination revealed that it was fired from a Service pistol. The
