SUPREME COURT.

PALMERSTON SESSION. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.), PALMERSTON, N., Aug. 2. The August session of the Supreme Court commenced this morning. “The calendar of this occasion,” stated-His Honour, Mr. Justice Reed, in his addi’ess to the grand jury, “is a short one, but unfortunately it contains one serious charge, that of murder.” His Honour did not think there would be any difficulty in returning a true bill in the case in which Deva Kala is charged with murder at Pahiatua, the evidence was short upon the facts of a prima facie case of murder, but whether the charge could afterwards be reduced to one of manslaughter, was a. matter for the common jury.
