MINE MANAGERS’ REPORTS

Kuranui.—The manager reports that the winze on Barry’s reef from the lower level crosscut has been sunk 4ft. • —a total of 38ft. The reef split into stringers, but is now making again, and at present is 12in. wide, and looks well, carrying nice mineral and silica. The country rock ’on both walls is still of a. good class for making gold. The old battery level. The cleaning out and re-timbering of this level has been extended 18ft. —total 68ft. The level is all broken down and full up with mullock, and so far requires all new timbering. Golden Age.—The manager reports that the winze on the footwall of the Golden Age reef has been sunk a further distance of 4ft., making a total of 6ft. The reef still maintains its width, and showed colours of gold when broken down.

Lucky Shot.—The manager reports that a building has been erected 21ft. x' 9ft. to house the compressor and dynamo. Concrete foundations have also been put in for the compressor and dynamo. Everything should he completed in about a fortnight to make a start with the rock drills. A distance of six feet has been di'iven in the footwall of the reef to ascertain if there is any more quartz. It is intended to continue this on for another 10 or 15 feet, as there are indications of a portion of the reef going away in the footwalls. No quartz has been broken since commencing work after the holidays.
