ALLEGED THEFT.

EX-POSTMASTER CHARGED,

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WAIHI, Dec. 6.

On Friday at Katikati, DetectiveSergeant Sweeney arrested Alfred Stanley Thorburn, aged 34, on a charge of theft of £57/16/- on or about March 19th., 1926, at Motu (Gisborne), then being in possession of the said sum as postmaster.

Accused appeared at court on Saturday, and was formally charged. Detective Sweeney applied for a remand to the 16th. inst. to Gisborne. The remand was granted, bail being allowed, accused £IOO, and one surety of similar amount
