MINING NEWS.
I Kuranui.—The crosscut at-the lower level to cut .Ross reef has been extended ,18ft., a total of 165 ft. We are In past where the reef should have been cut, but by the class of country ft should be close at hand. The counprv rock at present is of a blue nature, bid fairly firm, being interlaced with biartz stringers and mineral veins. | The following telegram was received from the mine manager yesterday:—. .-‘Cut leader Bin. wide in the crosscut It the lower level. It is carrying nice, bright mineral.” i Alburnia.—The footwall portion of she Norwegian level has been advanced i further 16ft. The leader shows an |verage width of loin., and there have been a few odd colours of gold seen ai the stone broken. The country rock $3 lighter in colour than that previously passed through, with mineral seams intermixed. The Orlando level has been advanced a further 15ft leaving a distance of 35ft. to meet the collar |f the rise. The country we have passed through has been the worst we have |net with. It has ' been stoped both overhead and underfoot, .and the wall- "
