W. Hetliering|ton and J- Brown, j Harbour Boards’ Conference. I A copy of the proceedings at the (Harbour Boards’ Conference was received. I The Chairman said he noted with (pleasure that the remits sent from [Thames were well presented by the Secretary (Mr. Sanders), and had been twell received. All of them were faffirmed, he was glad to say. Committee’s Report. * The local committee reported as follows: — i Shed Construction. —Your committee jhas to report having accepted the tenjjtler of the Selwyn Timber Co., Ltd., {for the supply of 11,394 super feet of ftimber for the construction of the new fgoods shed for the sum of £l7O/17/-. | Di*edgemaster. —Your committee has fto report (a) having appointed Mr. A. |H. Lockie to the position of dredgepinaster. Mr. Lockie took up his duties (on July 29th. (b) Having secured the pel-vices of Mr. Christiansen, engineer Ipf Messrs. J. J. Niven and Co., Ltd., S»to assist in facilitating the work of putting the dredge engines in working (order.

I Walling.—The improved progress in fthis work has been maintained during Ithe month. There has been a certain (amount of interruption during the /month by wet and stormy weather, but !no damage has been sustained. Bundling stone of first quality to the extent ■of 253 cubic yards came to hand during lithe month from the Board’s property, [Coast Road. The recent heavy, rains (brought down stone in the Karaka and iTararu Creeks. We are taking a supply of this at 3/- per cubic yard less [than the Coast stone, as it is just as (suitable for portion of the work; so |far, 69 cubic yards have been received (up to the 29th ult. The stone quarry [is now in shape to put out sandstone [filling cheaply in bulk. Some further [improvements are being made to facilitate shunting. | Shoreward Wharf.—This is making |fair progress under difficulties.

| Wharf Shed.—Tenders were called for (the supply of timber for this shed, (closing on the 12th ultimo. These pranged from £l7O/17/- to £261. That |of the Selwyn Timber Co. was accepted 'at the lowest price mentioned. Delivery is now coming to hand at Thames /Station. The timber is well cut, and 'up to specification Turua Wharf Approach, etc.—The (Board’s Foreman has paid several to the Waihou River during the month, and has effected repairs to the wharf approach, reinstated the landing /pontoon carried away by flood and (storm on the 11th ultimo. He is now fhaving the shell bar beacon reinstated land the others painted and repaired. The launch pump, etc., requires an ioverhaul by a specialist, as the- outfit [was hung up twice during the month lowing to failure to start up to time. General. —The Board’s Foreman (Mr. iStone) has carried out the port duties, -repairs, etc., assigned to him, and his (orew have performed many duties during the month as well as the wharf /construction work under loan.
