MAN SEVERELY FINED. (By, Telegraph. — Press Association.) AUCKLAND,- Nov. 13. At the Police Court, William George Brown was fined £2O on each of two charges of laying totalisator odds. Brown’s appeal against his conviction in a previous caso had been disallowed and he was serving a sentence of 32 days’ imprisonment. Chief Detective Cummings said he was satisfied that if Brown or his counsel had their way they would have pleaded guilty, but lie was sure that a very strong organisation at the back of them urged them to plead not guilty and fight the matter out. ,
