CHECK ON LOCAL BODIES.

EXAMINATION OF LOANS. MOVE rx RIGHT DIRECTION. (By Telegraph.—Press Association). HAMILTON, Nov. 13. The movement by the Christchurch City Council to secure the co-opera-tion of other local bodies in entering a joint protest against the proposed •setting up by the Government of a board to examine loan proposals to determine whether they were in the best interests of the requisitioning locality or of the country as a whole has not met with the approval of the Raglan County Council, any more than it found favour with the recent conference of the South Auckland County Councils. The Raglan body, as its bi-monthly meeting, was unanimously of the opinion that the Government’s scheme was a move in the right direction, and the Christchurch communication was merely received. .
