SERIOUS FIRES.
BOOT FACTORY DESTROYED. UNEMPLOYMENT CAUSED. FOR CONSIDERABLE TIME. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) , TIMARU, Nov. 13. A fire last night did extensive damage to the premises of Anderson and Co., boot manufacturers, in Church Street. The outbreak was discovered at 9.00, when the flames had a strong hold, and, being fanned by a strong wind before they were suppressed, a great amount of damage was done to the highly-inflammahle goods, which burnt fiercely. Much damage was done to the machinery by fire and water, but it is impossible to asses the amount at pie sent, whilst the stock suffered heavily, the whole being reduced to debris. The fire will throw a considerable number out of employment, and a con siderablp time must elapse before the business can bo resumed. AT BLENHEIM. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) BLENHEIM, Nov. 13. Newman’s insurance.on the building is £ISOO. The stock is covered, but details are not available. Twelve motor cars and one motor-cycle are more or less damaged. Three service cars and two private cars were saved undamaged. The total insurances on the cars are, as far as is known, £975.
