REPLY TO MR. DYNES.
/ (To the Editor). Sir, —I have been waiting' to see if there were any more correspondents of the type of J. Dynes. Evidently there are not, and it seems that the greatest noise in the community <jomes from the emptiest heads, and I don’t propose to waste time dealing with his twisted ramblings or meaningless challenges. I would suggest that Mr Dynes might get some intelligent person to read my letter to the Council, to him, and explain it, and then, that he accept the terms of my offer, and deposit the amount I stated as being necessary to pay the expenses of a competent committee of expert engineers, or refrain from irresponsible correspondence to newspapers. As, however, the work at the quarry is being proceeded with, I cannot delay the time for this investigation, and unless Mr Dynes’ cheque is in the hands of the County chairman (Mr Lowe) by Thursday next, the 22nd. inst., I shall declare the matter closed.—l am, etc., JAS. HIGGINS.
