In the course of an interview Purdy, who returned'from the Olympic Games to-day, complained rather bitterly concontrol of the boxing there. He said the Games would not have satisfied the novices of other parts of the world. He had to train himself and even when working in the gymnasium
in Paris had no one to keep time for him. ■ He expressed the opinion that lie had won his contest with the Frenchman Thorley by a -wide margin, hut did not receive the decision. The American judge gave him 9 out of 10 points, but the other two decided against him. He announces his intention of joining the ranks of the professionals in the very near future.
