OBITUARY.

AIRS JAMES LAWSON

Notice appears in our columns to-day of the death at Auckland of Mrs Lawson, relict of the late Mr James Lawson, of Thames. The late Airs Lawson has resided for many years in Franklin Street, Thames, and was one of the town’s early settlers. About a fortnight ago sin- decided to visit her daughter, Airs Bradley, in Auckland, and on Saturday she sustained a stroke, from which she never recovered. The news of her death came as agreat shock to her many friends at Thames, because she always enjoyed fau lv good health. The late Airs Lawson was an excellent nurse and did untold kindnesses to a great many of her neighbours and friends. She leaves' two sons, Air T. Lawson, of the N.Z. Herald staff, and Air J. Lawson, of Auckland, and five married daughters, Alls P. Montague, Mrs Kedzlio. of Thames. Airs Bradley. Airs Farquahar, of Auckland, and Airs Alurmy, of Taranaki. The interment will be private. AIR. Al. BROWNE

Another of the first- settlors to arrive in Thames passed away yesterday in the person of ATr Michael Browne. The late Mr Browne founded the grain merchant s business in Albeit Street, in 1868 with the late Air E. McDonnell. In 1875 AD Browne went to Auckland, and Air Alc-Donnell took over the business which lie carried on successful!v for many years.
