COAST ROAD. To the Editor. Sir, —Reading a letter in the Star last night signed “Ratepayer,’’ I quite agree with tTiem as far as “Johnny Grader” goes. The slip is down five weeks last Monday, was down two days before anyone started clearing it away, then it took seven men a fortnight to cut a track round the toe of it. Where was the experienced man then? It would he the same vet, if the County foreman had not brought men from Tapu. They have almost finished it in a week. Now, Sir, I think most ratepayers will be satisfied they are getting something for their money if the Council is sensible and employ the present gang, to clear the slips, even if they are foreigners and Maoris, they can sling the long-handled spoon. I am, etc., ANOTHER RATEPAYER. July 3rd. 1294.
