KIRIKIRI BRIDGE.
Mr. Rhodes’ telegram concerning the Kirikiri bridge will be . welcome news to Thames and Hauraki Plains residents. The easy access from one j side of the river to the other is a matter that should have been attend- | ed to many years ago, and it is only i by the making of the strongest ef- j forts that its culmination is now in , sight. The ferry has supplied a great need during the past three years, ' and in capable hands will continue to do so until' the... completion of the bridge, but it has been evident that the traffic has increased beyond its capabilities. The bridge is sure to take three or four years to construct and by that* time the traffic will have doubled itself on this rdute. Recognising this fact, no doubt the Public Works Department will push on with this important work as urgently as possible. It is pow a link in the main highways system as declared by the Highways Board, and this will further press its claims for speedy construction. Mr Rhodes has evidently made this matter his first consideration, and he will have earned the thanks of the whole of his district in his endeavours to expedite this necessary link across the Waihou River.
