Early in June a Fiji dairy farmer; called on Mr W. J. Hall of Matatoki to purchase pedigree Jersey heifers to , take back with him to Fiji to improve liis herd at that place. Mr Hall had, not met the buyer before, but .he showed him his herd, with the result : that three heifers were picked out ancL r : duly taken away, the buyer stating that he need go no further as these? were just what ho wanted. • '«£ * ft:
Mr Hall has now received word from Fiji that the cattle had arrived ly and the purchaser and others were very pleased at tliejr acquisition. These heifex - s are the first pedigree Jei'sey cattle to le;\ve, Auckland provinee for the Islands,' and, it is a; feather in the cap of Mr Hall in particular and Thames in general that the buyer, who was no novice in farming, should be so well satisfied. The sire of these heifers was imported and their dam holds a very high record She was'bred by Mr Hall, and is still in his herd.
