MET DEATH BRAVELY.
JAPANESE SUBMARINE CREW. LEAVE MESSAGES. (Sun Cable.) TOKIO, Oct. 24. The recovery of the bodies of the •crew of the submarine 70, which sank at Kobe on her trial trip in August last, discloses that some lived several hours after the plunge. They left messages- showing they had met death calmly and bravely. A note in a towel wrapped round the head of the engineer Shirokane, says: “We are satisfied we have done our duty, and are now awaiting death.” The note left by the electrician, Aoki, says: “Good-bye, my family; we are rapildv sinking, but if saved I will again work submarines.” Take care of yourselves.”
