EXTRAORDINARY TALE.

AEROPLANES’ FORCED LA!tDl)l|

IS GERMANY CAUSING IT. I LONDON, September 8. The Daily Mail says “has German# has devised a secret means of forcing aeroplanes to decend?” is the question a British expert at Vienna asks, in view of the extraordinary mis-, haps to aeroplanes at Nurenberg. Twelve aeroplanes belonging to the; Franco-Roumanian Coy. have been, forced to alight on German soil carrying passengers and mails* There are more of these mishaps between Prague and Stratsburg than any other company’s routes. They; generally occur near the Furth Aerodrome, outside Nuremberg. Pilots and passengers are forewith arrested and the machines are confiscated before the pilots have time ascertain the cause of engine! failure.

It is recalled that Germany warned other countries that civil aeroplanes would not be allowed to land on German Territory. Britain experimented ’with the wireless control of aeroplanes in war time hoping to frustrate air raids on France. The American experiments, it is understood, have reached an advanced stage and one pilot suggests the Germans are using wireless rays to melt certain metals especially the oil connections. One pilot at Furth found the solder of a feed pipe melted.
