Mr T. W. Rhodes, M.P., returned to Thames on Saturday, He was accompanied 'by Mrs and Miss Rhodes. „ Mr. M. J l . Harris, of Paeroa, received a cable from Sydney yesterday to the effect that his mother was Seriously ill. Mr. Harris left for Auckland and caught the Makura for Sydney.

i • . Mr. E. S. Tucker, of Paeroa, left on Saturday for Auckland where he caught the Makura for Sydney en route to Port Pirie, South Australia. Mr. Tucker has accepted an appointment on the research staff of the Broken Hill United Smelters Co., Ltd., at their Port Pirie works.
