SHEARERS’ AWARD.

FLAT RATE OF ’PAY (Press Association.)

CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 4. The Arbitration Court award for, shearers has been filed. The Court has not granted the employers' claim for a general re duction of rates of pay, nor itho workers’ demand for an increase. The Court has adopted a, flat rate principle for all classes of work. The hand shearing rate has . been fixed at not less than 24s per hundred, with rations, and machine shearing at not less than 24s with rations; lambs 24s per the shearers find their own - rations these rates will be increased by ss. The rate for stud sheep shall be settled by agreement s between the employer and shearer. The rate /for hogget rams /shall be rate and a half, and other rams double the ordinary rate.

FREEZING WORKS AWARD. (Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Oct. 4. The freezing companies’ application for a supplementary award was called before the Conciliation Commissioner. As at Auckland, Christchurch and Dunedin the unions were not represented. A letter was read stating that there was no dispute affecting the union, which was quite satisfied to abide by the present award. The matter was referred to the Court ‘without recommendation.
