FRIENDLY SOCIETIES.

LODGE AT NGATEA. A meeting was held in the Ngatea Hall on Wednesday night, convened by Mr. D. A. Vincent, for the purpose of discussing the opening of a branch of the Manchester Unity Independent Order of Oddfellows. Addresses were given on the ad-" vantage of Friendly Societies and the Oddfellows in particular, by Bros. Nicholas, Norffi, Ellis and Medhurst, of Loyal Jubilee, Lodge Paeroa, Byrne, of Loyal Howick Lodge, and Eeidpath, of Loyal Waitekauri Lodge. It was unanimously resolved that a Lodge should be opened at Ngatea at an early date, and Mr. Rowntree was appointed secretary pro tem. Another meeting will bo Monday evening next, to rangements for t-he opening.
