PALESTINE.
SITUATION REVIEWED.
LORD NORTHCLIFFE’S OPINION.
(Times.) (Received 10.20 a.m.) CAIRO, Feb. 14. Lord Northcliffe has furnished the newspapers with his views on the situation in Palestine. He stated that- during his visit there he interviewed the representatives of all classes. The prosperity and peacefulness of the old-estab-lished Jewish colony proved the capacity of the right kind of Jew for colonisation, but the orthodox Jews were opposed to. the pushful, domineering methods of many of the new arrivals.
Lord Northcliffe, as a supporter of Zionist ideals, was profoundly disappointed at the violent methods cf: the Zionist extremists, and did not hesitate to predict further grave troubles unless the moderate Zionists, the world over, took steps to check the extremists. His imp re s.sion was that the country was in a most unhappy condition. The British Parliament and Press should insist upon complete investigations.
