THORNTON'S BAY.
SCOUT CAMP FIRE.
A PLEASANT EVENING.
Last Saturday evening tho Hamilton Boy Scouts, who were encamped at Puru, gave a camp fire at Thornton’s Bay near the hall. Early in tho afternoon a party of scouts marched to tho bay and prepared tho fire, which was on the odgo of the beach. Before leaving tho firo was lit, and so, when the scouts arrived shortly after seven, they sat round a blazing fire. Tho items, which wero gWen entirely by the scouts, consisted of •bridge building and ju-jitisu by the St. Peter’s troop, physical drill by, tho Arawa troop, and an ambulance display by . tho Ironsides troop under Scoutmaster Clark. Songs and recitations were also rendered. One feature of tho campfire was the chorus singing by the boys. The scouts were divided into two sides,
one under District Scoutmaster ~ Brown, and tho other under Scoutmaster Harty. Each side vied with the other in the singing. • During the evening Scoutmaster Truman, of (the St. Peter troop, was presented by Patrol Loader Brown, on behalf of the troop, with a leather pocket book in appreciation of the Scoutmaster’s efforts on behalf of the boys during the past year. A collection taken up during the evening realised £lO Is 2d. After the camp fire the boys marched back to 'the camp at Puru. f:
