1922.
The year that has opened brings with it the promise of better times. After months that were very trying, to individual, nation and the world at large there came, in the closing stages portents of better days, and and. so, with courage the people can face what 1922 may have in store. The commercial reaction that followed the war may not have exhausted itself. There are problems, national, industrial and commercial, that will need strong and capable hand-
ling. But the cheering thing is that, whereas for most of the past year these matters disturbed the peace of the world, and appeared to lead nowhere, to-day there is an improved, outlook. We are moving, slowly and painfully it may be, but moving towards a better order of things. There is need for those qualities of perseverance that have made the nation, for a broad outlook, and for courage. If, in the perspectives of years 1921 appears as a year of darkness, 1922 may be the dawn, and in the day that comes there will be the call for every man to do his best for the common good.
