CALLED HIM A CAB.
In his entertaining book, " A Straight Deal on the Ancient Grudge," the American author, Mr. Owen Wister, tells some amusing anecdotes concerning Mr. Choate, the former American Ambassador in England. . y "Our Ambassadors," he; writes, (f must wear evening dress resembling closely the attire of those who are handing the supper or answering the door-bell. An [Englishman saw Mr. Choate at some function in this evening costume, and said: " 'Call me a cab.' " 'You are a cab,' said Mr. Choate obediently."
