HAURAKI PLAINS. MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. (From Our Travelling Reporter.) Tho Hauraki Plains' Agricultural and Pastoral Association's executive committee meb at Ngatea yesterday atfernoon. Present: Mr. P. R. Henry (Turua), chairman, and Messrs. G. D. McMillan (Turua\ Hollyburton Johnston (Ngatea), J. H. Carter {Netherton), J. H. Nicholson (Kerepeehi), J. Munro (Netherton), C. W. Harris (Waitakaruru), and E. Walton, secretary. LAND MATTERS. Tho secretary stated that it w-i.» possible to obtain £I3OO to purchase and to improve the land. To raise money by mortgage they must get tho sanction of a general meeting, which ho had called for January 4. Tho 1\ acres which iti was proposed to purchase, would cost about J>soo. Tho Commissioner of Crown Lands (Mr. H. M. Skeet) had advised that ho would push oh the proclamation of an area of land which the association- desired Mr. Carter, reporting on a meeting of members of the grounds com mittee, said that it was advisable to hold the show on tho Ngatea grounds. Mr. Nicholson quite agreed with Mr. Carter. If they held this year's show on the new grounds then there would bo very much work in tho way of , clearing, draining, bridging, and so on, to execute. He thought that the show would be fa,r more successful if it wero held at Ngatea. _ Mr. Munro moved that the' report, of the grounds committee should be adopted. Mr. McMillan, seconding the motion, said that the ground was much drier than it was at tihe time, of last year's show. '" . .' Mr. Munro's motion was carried. SHOW DAY. There was considerable discussion as to the fixing ot th 6 duJ:e of the next snow. < = Members remarked that last. y«»a. the Thames business men had very kindly observed show afternoon as a haif-holiday. They should "ask them to do so again- this time. Mr. Garter was in favour oi-held-ing tho show on a Saturday. Mr. Munro did not favour Saturday. Mr. Carter thought that Thames and Paeroa would observe a half holiday whatever the day of the show. Tt was stated :t!hat last year's show was held on Tuesday, February 34.

Mr. Harris moved, and Mr. McMillan seconded, and it was da cided that the show, should be held on Saturday, February 18. THE SCHEDULE. . It was decided that a schedule committee of five members should be elected. It would take at lea.°t three meetings to revise the schedule. The president and Messrs. L. Rowntreo, D. G. McMillan, J. tf. Carter, J. H. Nidholson were elected a committee. It was decided to ask Mr. W: J. Brail, of Matatoki, to act as adviser to the schedule committee, it being stated that he had a most extensive knowledge of show matters. APPOINTMENTS. Mr. Carter thought that the chief stewards should be appointed a'this meeting. After a lengthy discussion it was that the following- should be "the chief stewards: Mr. J. iT .Nicholson, horse steward; Mr. *L. Rowntree, cattle; Mr. H. N.N orris, horticulture; Mr. W. G. Hayward, ground. The president, Mr. Hallyburton Johnston, arid the .secretary were appointed a canvassing committer GENERAL. 'Mr. Munro 'suggested that tho entries should close 14 days before the 'day of the' show, and not 1.9 days before, as is now th e case. Ho would move to thafc effect. Mr. Carter seconded the motion, remarking that it would give the secretiary plenty of time to get the catalogues printed. This motion was carried unani-' mously. It was decided to issue free tickets to all school children in fne district.
