STOCK SUPERVISION.
NEW DISTRICT CREATED.
After many requests by the local bodies and the Farmers’ Union branches, a stock inspector has been appointed to take charge of the Thames eiid of the Valley. The need for such an appointment has. been felt by the farmers for many years past, and they will be pleased to find that some success has at last been achieved.
The new stock inspector, Mr. Denize, arrived in Thames on Tuesday last and commenced his new duties immediately. He is arranging to establish an office at Thames and farmers will always be able to get into touch with him.'
The district to be controlled by the new inspector for the present will include the whole of the Thames and Coromandel counties. It is thought likely that the greater portion of the Hauraki Plains will before long al§o - be controlled by Mr. Denize.
The stock inspector will deal with the noxious weeds and the rabbit pest thus obviating the necessity for another official.
Until the subdivision was made, the entire district was worked by the official stationed at Paeroa. The original district, which was far too large for any two men, included all of that parcel of land lyirtg no'rth of a line stretching from Katikati to the Piako River near Morrinsville from thence to a point near' Tahuna and over to the ranges on the western side of the Hauraki Plains. These ranges formed the western boundary and the sea coast the northern and eastern boundaries.
