Australia has lost three wickets for 256. Bardsley was caught by Makepeace off Cook, ater making 124, find Macartney was out leg before, to Parkin for 38. Andrews had made 51 when rain stopped play.

(A. and N.Z. Cable.) (Received 11. 55 a.m.) LONDON, August 4. The Australians declared with 5 wickets down for 317.
Andrews 88, Taylor'l9. Bowling analysis: Parkin 2 for 81, Cook 1 for 92, Taylor 2 for 86. The wicket was slow and drying and the attendance totalled 5000: Macartney was quickly dismissed, but Bardsley and Andrews carried the score from 136 to 254. Bardsley was once let off in the field, and Andrews twice was badly missed. The bowlers got no help from the soft ground and the scoring went on steadily. Bardsley achieved his eighth century of the tour, but after lunch was caught in the first over. Andrews and Taylor helped the total along and at the declaration the Australians had a lead of 217.
Lancashire in the seeon innings lost wickets, Hallows and Makepeace both being bowled by McDonald, for 31.
