MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Thames School Committee: was held on, Wednesday, there being present Messrs. J. H. Hodge (Chairman) J. Boyle, W. Wilton A. Bateman, W,. D. . Gilmore, W. Graham, S. McKeown, J.,. Pratt and J. R. Muir. : * ; ; V.. >;• .1’ Messrs A. and T. Burt supplied quotations for bubble fountains.

The matter was left in .the hands of the chairman and Mr- Pratt. • A letter was received from- the Board of Education forwarding forms for application fpr, subsidy in connection with the' improvements to the Central 'school playing area. ’ Mr. Gilmore on behalf of the visiting coinmittee reported : having visited.'the three schools and mentioned certain -matters that needed .. attention. * It AvaS : decided to have the matters attended to.

' Mr. Wooller, headmaster of the Cen- >■ tral school, .who at the invitation of ;i the committee was present, outlined several schemes ’ for raising funds for the laying out and equipment of the neiv playground at the school.

After some discussion it was decided ' on the motion of Messrs Pratt and Graham that the committee should ' meet Mr. Wooller and the staff of .the :

Central School on • Monday,' August Bth, with, a view to discussing . the

preliminary detail s. ' .' . . The chairman reported that the contract for filling in the area •recently

acquired was almost completed and suggested that application should be made to the Board to have the fence and buildings removed on to the new area. - It was decided to ask the Board, for the removal of the fences and building* Accounts amounting to £34,18s 8d were passed for payment. ’ : '
