FIRST TEST GAME.

(Press Association.)

■ DUNEDIN, August 1. Ten shillings is being charged for seats in the grandstand at the test football match, and about 10.00 tickets were sold soon after the plan was opened this morning. Over 100 people were on the spot from 8 o'clock last night, and were joined by 100 more before daybreak.

AUCKLAND REPRESENTATIVES. ,

The Auckland Rugby Union hasi advised that' the following Thames players will be required to play in the match } Possibles v. Probables, at Auckland next Saturday:—H. Hay ward, M. Hayward, A. Lomas, and A. Tate. GAME IN AUSTRALIA. Reports of a speech by Mr. Bennett, the manager of the Springboks, in which he referred to the roughness of the games playecl in Australia, have drawn the following comment from the Sydney Sun: ' Mr. Bennett's remarks regarding the roughness of the New South Wales play were perhaps not quite in the best of taste. Admittedly the New South Wales team played hard football, but Union, officials and friends ar.e perfectly satisfied that there was nothing foul in their tactics. Tnere was no over-use of the boot. On the other hand, it is generally admitted that South Africans were rather prone in their series of games in Sydney to evade one or -two of the laws of the game. Illegal interference was frequently observable, and a number of their big fellows had a habit of lying on tho ball.
