A NORTH TRAGEDY.

AUCKLAND, This Day. A tragedy occurred at Oromahoe, near Ohaeaewai, in the Bay of Islands, on Thursday.
lands, <m Thursday, an old Maori woman, Mereana Takemoan*, being shot dead, afid her equally aged husband, Kemaera BLaratua, receiving one bullet in the breast, and two in the left arm. The wounded map, who has been, removed to r,he hospital, stated that /a dusk un JThursday evening, the barking of dog 8 caused him to run outside his hut. A strange Maori, who was coming down the hill toward the hut, instantly shot at and woupded him. The woman then came out of the hut, and was «ihot dead.
Deteotdve Sweeney, of A-uckland, who has been in the Raweme district duri)ng the last few days^ has been oommunicated with, and , iihetructed to proceed to ih& fioene of the tragedy.
