WELCOME TO RETURNED SOLDIERS
At the last meeting of the Borougih Council the Mayor, Mar. Lowe, thought the time was apportune to give the retained soldier* .some kind of a. public * welcome. Alarge numlber of Thames men Jxad returned, but he thought it wise to defer it until the present epidemic .had ceased, However, arrangements could be proceeded with. r Cr. :Tardnrvam, who stated he felt.very, strongly on the point, thought a public, meeting should be convened/,for the purpose of setting, up a cditazen*?' torn- ■ mittee to control the welcoming of all men. Mr. Lowe thougiht the peace celebration committee, which wtas a thoroughly representative 'body, could. very well act as a committee*. "The councillors thought it wa« a good idea, and Mr. Lowe wall tiring the matter up at the next meeting of the i committee ;
