PADDY'S MARKET.

(To the Editor.)

j Sir, —I understand the committee .who have this matter in hand intend to hold it on, Thursday and I Saturday, November 29 and -December 1. While. quiti& a,ppr6ving of the ;'project, I wish to point out. to the j committee the utter .. uselessness. of I holding the stalls' on the main street |on the Thursday afternoon. It be- | ing the half holiday, I doubt, if there will be 20 people outside those attending the stalls to sell the goods. Now it is said that the shop assistants pan only help on Thursday, but while their help is greatly appreciated, it is buyers that are j wanted, and on Thursday all buyers ikeep out of town, and L, for one, j know that they won't come into ; town to buy at the stalls where they don't know what, igoods will 1 be offered for sale. Now any Saturday, morning and afternoon, sees largp numbers of motors and countay vehicles,, their owners all busy shopping. The Hauraki Plains' set tiers come over in large numbers and shop. ■Therefore I suggest to. the committee to Cut. out the Thursday and make one supreme effort on the Saturday morning, afternoon, ■and evening. The patriotic business people of Thames, I 'am sure, would let one or two of their assistants Gif for mi hour in turns to help at the stalls. I truisit the committee will sea the, force of my (suggestion as it is only to make less work and achieve a better result. Thanking you in giving this valuable space in your paper, I~ain, etc., SUGGESTION.
