—f— : WEDNESDAY, July 4. Present: Messrs W. J. McCormick (chairman)', Baker, Robinson, Lloyd, Hosking, Brennan, Horn, Hale, and Franklin. The minult/es of the previous, meeting were iead and confirmed, and also the minutes of a committee meeting bold , during the month. CORRESPONDENCE. The outward correspondent was read and approved. Amongst the inward cor- ( respondence were the following letters: From Paeroa Oo»inty Clerk, re estimato of receipts and expenditure.—Re--1 ceived. From Borough Council, saying the Borough foreman considered the continuance of the concrete^ wall on the J foreshore end of Wilson St., asked for by the Board, unnecessary in view of the fact of no further damage having been caused since the construction of. the groin on the foreshore. In accordance with the suggestion of tiie Borough foreman, the Council had authorised that eight loads of large stones be placed on the northern' corner of the strrefc, where the damage occurred before the ' groin was constructed.—Received. From Nurse J. J. Shaw, resigning j position on the hospital staff, and asking to be relieved of her duties on the iast \ day of July.—Received. Resignation accepted v/ith regret and to be relieved of ] duties as requested. j From Wairoa Hospital and Charitable } Aid Board re proposed Hospital and £ Charitable Aid Board's Association. Jsta.t- 1 ing a fe© oi four guineas entitled board to one delegate.—Mr Horn© was of . opinion tnat unity of action would result in the board benefiting by far more than the four guinea fee. It was only right to join ifche association, and help things , along. Its would be a benefit to the dis. i trict, and purchasing in bulk would be ] a great saving to the board. He moved j that the board join the association.— Mr Hosluhg, in seconding, said it v.as a step in the right direction.—Carried. The motion that the Board approved of ' President being elected by tue confer- ! enco wais carried. ( From T. REPORTS. From Inspector-General of Hospitals, forwarding copy of D. H. B. Letham's lengthy report on the X-ray plant and apparatus at the Thanles Hospital for Board's considertion.—Received. From H. C. Tempest re X-ray plant and proposed addition and alterations, elating he had examined Dr. Leathaoj's report on the X-ray plant and had 1 interviewed and discussed the matter with Dr. Walshe as required. All the apparatus recommended should not exceed £50 } but the most important and the first thing thait should be attended to was the enlarging of the X-ray room — Receired. Mr Robinson reported that everything at the Hospital, was working satisfactory. Dr Walshe reported: Number of inmates at the end of last month, 29 males 22 females; admitted since, 36 males ; 34 females; deaths, 4 males, 1 female: discbaiged, 41 males, 31 females; remaining at daite, 24 males, 24 females; out-patients, 17 male®, 11 females; attendances, 131 males, 41 females; operations, 30 females —Received and adopted? The superintendent of the. District Homes reported: Inmaites at beginning of month, 20 males, 4 females'; discharged during the month, 2 males; remainlngi 18 males, 4 females. The conduct of inmates for.the month had been excellent, They had been busy levelling flood deposits, and asked Board for some second-hand linoleum from, the hospital, and come second-hand corrugated iron. The matron reported everything working satisfactory in her department, and conduct of inmates excellent.—Received and adopted. Mr Home, for the visiting commit, tee for. the Homes, reported he was highly pleased -with the appearance of everything. Mr Gilmore had got to work with the assistance of some of the old men fixing up the grounds affer the flood, and he was very pleased with the progress. Any spare iron or linoleum would be of assistance to the Homes The engineer's report stating that everything was working satisfactory was received aaid adopted. Nurse McKinven reported noi infections disease cases amongst the natives. Maori pas visited: Paraiwai, Kopu, liivi Kiri, Puriri, Matatoki, Hikutaia, Komata., Paeroa, Tirohia, Waitoki, Tui Pa, and Te Aroha. —Received and adopted. GENERAL BUSINESS. It was decided to record in the minutes a resolution of sympathy to Mr Home re his brother's sudden demise The members standing canied the motion in silence. An apology was received from Mr Law. The chairman pointed out that £36----£37 were spent in the month on the ground work. lit was decided that the dispensing of the ground work be .'eft in the hands of the local committee. Committees for the month are: Homes, Messrs Franklin and, Brennan ; Hospital, Messrs Hosking and Baker. As the next meeting, which should be held on the Bth August, will clash with the Goldfields Jubilee 1 celebrations in Auckland, it wa> decided, on the motion of Mr Lloyd, seconded by Mr Robinson, that the next meeting be held on Monday, August 6. —CaiTied, ACCOUNTS. Accounts to the amount of £115 10i 4d were passed for payment. TENDERS. The tender of R. Twentyman for funerals was accepted-. The tenders for furnishings accepted by the committee .during the month were approved. Mr Scott's tender for groceries wab accepted. The meeting then closed with a vote of thanks t"o the chair.
