A 1 headquarters correspondent supplies the following story in connection -with the "recent raids: When the raiders were preparingl to leave the German trenches a Hew Zealand sergeant was buried in the debris and his cries were not heard. After remaining concealed for two hours lie boldly emerged : and tried to find the British trenches 1. He encountered a. reconnoitring patrol of five Germans-. He levelled hie revolver and shot dead" the Bon-commissioried officer in charge. rihe others hesitated and thejn laid down their arms, The sergeant, who was reported as missingl, triumphantly returned with" his prisoners. He was congratulated by his officer, but he replied, "It was not. me who found the silly Germans. They just cam© along to be caught."
