ANNUAL REPORT

Nicholson, New' Zealand managed- for the National Mutual Life Association, has received the follow'iijig cable from the head office, Melbourne: Tho forty-seventh annual meeting wao held a.t Melbourne on December 20th.. The chairman, in moving the adoption of the annual report, congratulated members on the. increased business and the continued general prosperity of the association. The new business was very satisfactory, and the number ol' lapses very few, thus showing the confidence the public had in the solidity of the association.. The new Vbusineis® written 1 for tlie year amounted to £3,235,(500, being an increase of £107,000 over last year. The sum of threes-quarters of a million has been-saved and added; to the funds: during the year, which now amount to over £f0, 100,000. The rate of interest -has been well maintained, an average of nearly 5 per cent being received for all money invested, and it is gratifying to know that the expenses of management have beten"" considerably reduced. The ratio- of expenses to total income is now 20.37. The death, claims are larger than in the previous year, ow- | ing entirely to war casualties.
