Tine British official report states: Sdutnwards of the Ancre, strong I counter-attacks' were made continuously last ■ night on the New Zealanders, but were beaten off with severe enemy loss. Prisoners and a large number of dead were left. Notwithstanding heavy fighting, we. advanced our front in the neighbourhood. •■ •■■ j The French official report says: Bad weather prevails. The enemy did 'not renew his attempts on the Somme; front. On the right bank of the Meuse ' two French attacks brilb'antly sueJ ceeded south-east of Thiaumont.
