To-day's cables are decidedly encouraging, and • indicate that the German an! Austrian armies cannot j withstand the pressure of the Allied army in France ; antf Belgium, and that of the Russians in East Prus- ; sia, Poland, and Galicia. ■ Near Ypres in Belgium and towards the coast,; there has been desperate fighting. The Allies have secured the advantage, have re- : pulsed the Germans attack in Belgium, and foiced them back. There are indications that the Germans attack in : Belgium and France, is weakening. Many Zeppelins have been seen flying westward i over Belgium. . ; The Russians have secured an undoubted advantage after terrible fighting at Warsaw. General Botha's forces have already come into contact with those of the rebellious South African Boers, and forced them to beat a retreat.
