WORDS OF WISDOM • ' .—*—- TO MY PEOPvE. When a demand arises for a*, m- . 'clej and if the supply should not J» uite equal to ifoe demand, it creates scarcity, consequently higher prices. Dnglish ideas' and cUßtome Have been introduced into the Orient, and are spreading rapidly; this, along with fche world's increasing population, has cause.* an extra demand for all kinds of food, etc., and as the producing area has not increased correspondingly, it at once reflects on the producing countries, and. raises price* , Great Britain is the only free trade country of any importance in the world. In Great Britain, only a few days ago, a Commission was apointed to inquire into the reasons why the cost of living had increased. It has been officially etated, while the cost of living: increased 50 per cent during the last 25 years, wages had only increased !15; par cent for the same period, so it is obvious t&i' ing the land will not reduca the cost of living, nor increase' the workers' &ges, and the only remedy for Great oritaini is Protection, The Orientba», and k erecting, uge industries equipped with modern machinery worker, and to Ye with Aaiitib labour. The question suggests itself yto tny people—how can any English-speaking country cope with this menace unless amply protected to nave ov: nduatries and wage-eariert from being brought | downto I>he Aciatio lerel. I The Single Tax theory is absolutely one tax on the land and free Tade. It jn appjiren - it would not I lessen the cost of production, but re- j duce wages to cope with Asiatic labour, augmented with modern machinery. There,is still hop* as I am credibly informeu the success of the Single Tax policy will depend upon thu world adopting it ; this ought to ensure safety for a time. During my varied experience 1 found that quack recipen were harmful to those with imaginary ailments, but they have the option of becoming ; well and remaining here if they will' follow my advice. I stronply advise ; my people, and.-■;♦*•<» imaginary mlferoTß, to feast upoii tbe well known recipefl, prosperity, and longevity, etc., viat.:—•Ample protection on things we can produce, and good wages—"CHAMPliON MUJSGLBJRAISBE FLCHJB" and "STANDARD" OATMEAL and ROLLED OATS. I remain, Always at your service, CHAMPION. P.S.—Follow Canada's example, and fcejeet tie Single Tax and Free Trade.
