RAID IN MELBOURNE.
ALLEGED BETTING HOUSES'.

A raid on pretmses ait Collinsstreet resulted in the apprehension of 10 persons inducting two women, on charges laid under the Police Offences A'cfc. '
Those arrested were: Edward Kelly, 39, commission agent;. Louis Collms, 34; clerk; Frederick Barker, 40, clerk; Martin Comer, 28, clerk; Frederick O'Neill, 28, no occupation; Michael O'Brien, 25, commission agent; Paul (blarron, 41, clerk; Frederick! Fortune, 51, accountant; Myrtle Kempster, 19, f typiste;. and Irent Rbynolcls, 20, typiste. The detectives went to an office on the first floor of 3210 Collins street. The two young women were at work typewriting. The detectives took! charge of the room and of books and correspondence alleged to relate ' to racing transactions. Other detectives ■.visited 339 Collins street, and entered art office on the first floor, the winaW of which bore the sign, "E. Kelly, Commission Agent." There 'Barker and Kelly and Comer were arrested, and the police seized certain books, and took possession of £50 which Kelly had with .him.
All the persons arrested were taken to the Rlussell street police station in cabs. They were charged and released on bail within an hour.
