Mr E>. Wi Cbstello, of Auckland, 18 at present on aj visit to Thames and ■will remain here for a few days. Mr Clostellb then proceeds lo Te Aroha, Rotorua, and (if tho weather is favourable) Tauj)o.-
C'apt. EL J. Sfeddon, son -of iho late Hbn. Mr Seddon, who has been appointed to take charge of the ares in which Thames is included, is expected to take over his duties in a few weeks.
The many friends on Thames of Mr J. L. Walton will regret to learn of The death of his daughter, Mrs (?. Longshaw (nee MUs Mamie Walton), which occurred at Bombay, aged 2#. The deceased lady was held in high esteem, and was formerly a. teacher at local schools, where she endearedl herself to all her pupils. She leaves an infant a few days old. The sincerest sympathy will be extended tq the bereavled husband and parents-irt their sad loss. The funeral takes pla«j to-morrow.
'Phe death of Mr Eirnest Ford ati his residence, Devonport, is widely regi-etited and removes another old colonist. Mr Ford was one time agextf for the Übion" fiLSt. Co at Fiji, and later represented the same company at ißussell. He later removed to Auckland, and started in th<| shipping business^ on his own account. The Ford shipping line was inaugurated by deceased,-who latterly conducted a separate business as shipping-agenK and, owned * a number of scows. -' Ho was president ojf the KZ. Shipping Federation. His death resulted front a severe cold. He leaves a widow,. one daughter, and several ions, &* whom general sympathy will be extended.
