GUIDING MARINERS.
LIGHTING THE THREE KINGS:
MARINE SECRETARY'S SUG-
GESTIONS,
AUCKLAND, March 7. After.a personal inspection of the Three Kings Mr Allport, vSecretary of Marine, reports lie cruised all round the islands in a launch, and his definite* conclusion was. that there was not a feasible place for any kind of warning device on the Wester a. King, but a first-class light should be placed on the Big King. He believes the most suitable site to be on the-south-west side of the island, at a height of about 30CFft.. An automatic fog signal is also requirHon. Mr Fisher states negotiations have been opened with the Federal Government "wrftfi a view to obtaining a. contribution towards the cost. Mr states light will soon be required on the North Cape ,and a splendid site is available on the island just oft' the (Jape at a height of 100 feet.
