BARONESS'S ESCAPE. —♦—
FROM AN ASTLUM.
It is now known that the escape of the Baroness Ohaaioitte van Coefaioxn from the asylum near Brussels was not only pkfcmed but also ciarried out by her ad>v!oeate, M. Detjardin.
•- M. Dejaxdin vmnt down to shoot on some^property of his at. Parvflux, en a Saturday, and! there he receivedl a telegram informing him tihaft everything was ready for the flight on Sunday. Ml. Dejardin returned huariedly to Brussels, where he was joined toy his wife, a relation, and an old friend.
The conspirfifcotrs larrainged the last details of their plot in a> cafe in the Place Rogieor. Then they boarded a motor car specially sent from Ostend, and ait 10 o'oodk on the Sunday night they were in. the neighbourhood of the asylum.
They waited as near asl possible to the imprisoned young lady's window, and, .as hiadi been arranged, gave three "toots" with the horn. Mile van Ooehona, whose .window was not far from! the",ground, jumped out, and was caught in the arms of her friends . below.
She immediately put onj a beard and male attire, the latter including a large overcoat. She also wore. a golf cap and carried a light cane.
Once in the oar they set off at top speed towards Waterloo and then an to Neville, whex-e they stopped at a lititle cafe for refreshment. Finally they stopped at Beruwalz-les-Tournoi, where Mm©. Dejardin's parents liTted. They were expected, and the fugitives spent the night there.
Next "day they went "by car to Lille, and tjhere Mile, van Coehorn and 1 Mme. Dtajardin took the train for Paris, where they are now staying. M. Detjardin, who wenit to Ostend immediately after the flight, is also coming to Paris, where he intends to put the case! of his client before M. Briand, the Mnister of Justice. The lawyer continues to declare that his client) is perfectly sataef, that, her conduct since her flight has given ample proof that she is in complete possession of hier faculties. Be announces that he will bring the affair before the Belgian <. judicial authorities, with whom he will lodge a! complaint, for illegal arrest followed by arbitrary confineratent.
