The country is facing debts amoimting to a. thousand million dollars aad claims have been made by foreign investors for loss due to the disturbed state of the country. Eifforts are I»eing made fo seouie the intervention of the United States, but the latter is reluctant because suspicion® would be engendered in other Central American Republic*, Republics which are already none too well disposed towards the United States.
