MELBOURNE, September 12.
Diver Hughes, of Westralian mining rescue fame has fallen upon evil days. Illness prevented him working for the past year,, and a public nppenl brougnV a poor response.
A deputation asked Mr Fisher to provide Hughes with york t» enable him to maintain his wife and six children.
Mr Fisher requested that the mutter be left in his hauds. Ho declared that if ever a, hero va's born in this country, it was Hughes.
