FATALITY AT MATAMATA.
A WOMAN, KILLED.

MORRINg-VILLE, September 12.
A sad fatality occurred here on Saturday night, which hag oast quite a gloom over the neighbourhood. Mr and Mrs F. Roche were returning from Cambridge and when near Hinuera, about eight o'clock at night, the horses shied and broke a trace. The startled animals then bolted, and Mrs Roeha was thrown against the front, wheel and fell between the wheels, being evidently dragged for some distance, whilst Mr Rotehe, who was driving, was thrown against the other wheel and bus. tamed severe injuries to hi 3 leg. Checking the horses ho returned to the scene o>l the accident, only to find his wife lying by the roadside bleeding and unconscious. Willing help '■ wiis near at hand, and the injured lady was conveyed to her home at Matamaba, when life was found to be extinct. Mr hiid Mrs Roche are well-known in the district, and great sympathy is extended to him in hii sad bereavement.
