Hockey at Thames.
Thames met Cricketers on Saturday afternoon, and after a game that wae characterised by its genuine mjirtih, proved, cfaey victors by six goals to nil. The Thames Club whs fully represented, but the followers of the summer pastime" are evidently aifraid of a "wat wicket," for only five of the team put in an appearance, but with the addition of Speight (Auokland) and Baker (Thames), kindly agreed to by the Thames skipper, managed to give, the Thames Club a ganm There is nothing to say about the game beyond the fac(t that jt was thoroughly enjoyed' by one and all—referee included, and if tlio maxim "Laugh and grow fat" is a trueism the players, on Saturday, ought to'put on a pound or-two driving the weteik". The Thames playsrs scored at their leisure, notching nx goals before the p,ame ended, while the Cricketers failed to scote, although on. one or two occasions had hairdi luok.
