DEEP SINKING IN VICTORIA.
Two shafts on the I": -Jigo field ai'e now more than 42001 .1 ep- The companies which have s^t this example to others in prospecting deep ground are the New Ohum Raibvuy and Viotorian Quartz Companies- At this great depth Victoria Quartz has sunk 30ft in ground mostly consisting of sandstone- This makes the shaft 4201 ft from the surface- The company will sink about another. 100 feet, and will then crosscut east at 4254 ft. towards the oenitre-country winze helow 3324 f- The New Chilian Riaibviay is down over 4220 ft, with the shaft- The intention 'is to sink to 4300 ft, and then crosscut at 4262 ft to connect with the winze sunk below 3856 f- Both of these companies are hopeful of working payable formations at this depth-
